9-29-25 THOUGHTS
Often in the bible, a theme is pursued in the male sense, when both men and women are intended. Here that is reversed. The female is specifically addressed, but the application is powerfully general. There is an awesome character set described here that is fundamental to all Christian life. SUBMISSION is at the heart of love! There’s no place for the self! Image and example as teaching tools are root! The “HIDDEN PERSON OF THE HEART” is such sweet description of our behavior. What would love be without A “gentle and quiet spirit”? This is the basis for most righteous behavior. Sarah calling Abraham LORD is the example given. We must aim to be that which is “precious in the sight of God.” Titus 2:10b speaks of our “adorning the doctrine of God.”
1Pet 3:1-6 In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, 2 as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. 3 Your adornment must not be merely external — braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; 4 but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. 5 For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands; 6 just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.
Our Prayer:
O Lord, help us to adorn your teachings about life in every way. With gentle spirits, may we bless our neighbors and speak the Good News of Jesus. We bless and praise Your name, the God of ALL BLESSINGS. Help us to be submissive to Your truth. May we use all of our energy to know You and Your precepts. Help us image Your Image. To You, O God, be glory forever and ever! It’s in Jesus’, Amen.
